Richardson TX Senior Photography Session

The Richardson TX senior photography session happened to be scheduled for a sweltering, hot summer day. The temperature the week before had not been too bad, but on the day we had the session, it suddenly got really hot.  It's Texas, after all, where the weather changes in the blink of an eye sometimes.

Samantha, my senior model, was a great sport about the heat. We worked quickly, since it was a mini-session, anyway, and you'll see that her sweet smile shines through her portraits.

Because I'm not fond of strangers in the background of my senior shots (call me silly), I chose to do the mini-session on a Sunday in an area where I knew there would not be much foot traffic. (If you want other people in your picture, blurred out in the background, we can do it!  But I prefer to simplify and make the background people-free most of the time.)

She arrived in a cool, mint-colored dress, which she wore for these first shots.  The coolness of the mint color cooled us off a bit, mentally, I think! The color, because it's soft, brings the attention to her beautiful face:

Samantha stepped away for a quick wardrobe change while I found a different place to work. We ended up at a nice restaurant patio, since nobody dared to sit outside and sweat their way through dinner:

Lucky for me, she also brought her guitar. Photographing with guitars and other instruments helps capture the spirit of the senior, helps them relax, and adds additional interest to the portraits:

I also loved when she looked over her shoulder at me, while pulling her hair back. The out-of-focus blooming crepe myrtles in the background add some color interest, too:
