I was thinking this week, on the first week of school, how quickly time passes. Our son is a sophomore this year. He has changed SO MUCH in the last year. I have loved watching him settle into his own skin, figuring out who he is and what he stands for.
We had a lovely summer, which ended in a 2-week cross-country road trip. I'm sure none of us will ever forget it because, yes, it was a little crazy, but also because it was really fun. We got to know each other better as we laughed, talked, and crashed each road-weary night.
Isn't it so strange how, when they are little, days with our children seem to drag on and on? Not that they aren't fun, but they are just physically exhausting. But you look back on them when they are teenagers and wonder where all the time went. I get a little misty-eyed about that sometimes.
Because teenage years can be really hard, too. Just in a different way.
I just wanted to take a moment here and wish you all a very good school year filled with the making of new memories, ones that stick. Take care!
