Plano Ballerina Senior Pictures
I first met Taylor when we were members of the same church. She was so sweet in helping with our over-the-top fidgety child who could not endure sitting still through church service. So when she signed up to be one of Studio You Portrait's senior models for the Class of 2014, I was pretty excited. Taylor is involved in several activities at Plano East Senior High and she is also a ballerina, as you'll see later. (I love doing ballerina senior pictures, by the way!) Taylor brought the perfect clothing for her model session, clothes that went well with the surroundings. Her Dad was especially enamored with this one:
Taylor talked about doing some ballerina images with her street clothes. We captured some beautiful ones:
Then a year went by and it was time to schedule her real senior portrait session. I can shoot just about anywhere, but I am always a little nervous shooting at a brand new place. She wanted a rustic look to her senior portraits, so she chose to have them at a friend's house which had quite a bit of land. There were hardly any trees close by so we had to find a little shade to ensure we had some good light and so there were no harsh shadows or squinting. Light is one of the most important elements of a great portrait, so I'm extremely picky about it. I'd say it is the most important, but, truthfully, the attitude of the person I'm photographing is the most important. Relaxed and happy is a great state of mind to be in for your senior portraits!
Because the sun was so bright, we started by the barn:
During the shoot, we wanted to somehow feature all her toe shoes. Taylor had the idea to hang them on the fence:
Later on, we spread them out on the grass:
As the sun was setting, Taylor changed into one of her beloved ballerina costumes and we captured this spectacular image. I love the irony of the fancy dress with the rustic scene:
Featuring students' activities is a really fun way to personalize the session even more. Whether you want ballerina senior pictures or you want to feature another of your child's activities, remember that every session with Studio You Portraits is custom. I work with you to capture your child's personality and to feature whatever you want to feature. If that means doing the session at a special location, I'm all for it. I'll be happy to discuss various locations at your consultation.
