Why Have A Senior Model Program, Anyway?
I met with a lovely junior, Allison, and her mother at a local Starbucks Saturday to talk about Studio You Portrait's Senior Model Program. One of Allison's friends, who is a senior model for me this year, recommended her for the program.
Before meeting, we went over everything via email. I hate surprises and don't like to surprise anyone or put them on the spot. So I sent the information ahead of time so they could review it. Allison seemed excited to be a part of the program. I enjoyed learning about Allison's interests and activities. Turns out she is thinking about becoming a chemical engineer, which I thought was really cool. I'm excited that they decided to sign up!
We knew a lot of the same people, too, as it turned out, because my family used to go to the church they go to. But we had never met before.
I run a model program for a couple of reasons:
- The students seem to really enjoy the model session, the contests, and seeing their images on my blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
- I've been doing senior portraits for years under a different brand and it's been difficult getting my new name out there. Kind of like starting over. Having senior models tell their friends about me at their schools increases my reach.
The models do not pay to be in the program, but they put down the usual amount for a senior session (minus a discount). They get discounts and freebies and the chance to earn money for referrals. I know seniors and their parents are busy, so it is important that it doesn't take a lot of time.
In short, everyone benefits, and that makes me happy.
The model sessions will happen within a month. I've been planning a lot today, in fact. Can't wait!
If you would like to be a part of the Senior Model Program and you will graduate with the Class of 2015 or Class of 2016, call or email Dawn@StudioYouPortraits.com to get started. Thank you for considering it!
