Senior Portraits FAQs

Q: Doesn't my daughter have to use the yearbook photographer for her Dallas senior portraits?

A. Yes and no. Most high schools have a contract photographer who does the "drape and tux pictures".  You know, the headshots that all look the same, that go into the yearbook.  You do not have to hire this photographer for any other senior pictures and are free to use whomever you choose.  I hope you pick Studio You Portraits, of course!

Q: Why do we need senior portraits?

A. Moms who hire me do so because they want to create something special that helps commemorate this special time in their daughters' lives. They want to honor their daughters.  They want to help their daughters realize how beautiful and special they are. Also, they want something tangible, something they can look at on the wall or displayed on a shelf.  They want something that fills their hearts with love and makes them smile.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: For pricing information, view the pricing page.

Q: What is the process like?

A: Check out this cute infographic to see how the process works.  To start the process, call 214.783.9691 or e-mail

Q: Do you offer a payment plan?

A: Yes! Read about it here.

Q: How many outfits does my daughter get to wear at her session?

A: She can wear as many outfits as the session allows!  Seriously, there is no limit, but some girls change more quickly than others.  The session is two hours and most girls can wear 3-5 different looks. Accessories can totally change an outfit, too.  Read this blog post about clothing.

Q: Can I order my images on-line?

A: I do an in-person ordering session in your home. It is very efficient and takes about an hour.  It is important that all decision-makers are present at the ordering session.  On-line ordering takes much longer for my clients and I'm not there to answer questions or give opinions, so have found over the years that an in-person ordering session is a real benefit to my clients.

Q: Does makeup come with the session?

A: Yes, yes, YES!  Part of the session fee is for makeup and hair. I cannot overstate how important this is. It makes it very special for the girls and helps them relax and feel great about themselves.

Q: What should I do with my portraits?

A: Each clients has different needs, of course!  But, most of them purchase a wall portrait for their homes and gift prints (8x10 or smaller) for friends, offices, and relatives. My clients love their large wall portraits - this ensures some happy daily thoughts!  Many also purchase a book so they can have the best portraits from the session all in one place. Some purchase custom graduation announcements, which I design, or wallet-sized images to place in announcements they have purchased from school.

Q: Do I get all of my portraits on disc?

A: If you purchase one of our top two collections, you get all the digital files presented in your custom ordering session. That is a minimum of 25 files!

Q: Can I post images on Facebook (Twitter, Instagram, etc.)?

A: Absolutely!  In fact, I will give you (for free, after your ordering session) some watermarked images for social media.  The only thing I ask is that you leave the images as they are and not crop, use a filter, or otherwise alter them in any way.

Q: Why should I choose Studio You Portraits?

A: You want someone who takes the time to plan the session and who has an eye for what is going to be the most flattering poses and clothing for your daughter.  You also want someone who is able to relate to her. And you want someone who values your time and input.  Though this brand is only a couple of years old, I have been a professional photographer for over 10 years, so I'm not the new kid on the block.  Heck, I'm not even close to a kid anymore, but I love working with seniors. Still not sure if I'm the right photographer for you?  Feel free to give me a call at 214.783.9691 and we can talk for awhile.
